Based on the idea that music is more than entertainment, author Don Campbell makes a case for using it to “heal the body, strengthen the mind and unlock the creative spirit.”
He backs up his assertions with statistics and case studies, presents snippets of music and sings with much vigor when necessary. This is very well edited and presented, considering only about one-third of the written text made it into the abridgment. He is an entertaining and informative writer, but his presentation leaves something to be desired. Campbell’s inflection is strange, emphasizing words that don’t need it and raising or lowering his voice in odd places, which gets tiresome fast.
