A 29-year-old Santa Ana man was in custody Thursday after allegedly storming into his former workplace and threatening employees with a semiautomatic handgun, police said.
Jose Murillo Mendoza was being held at the Huntington Beach City Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, Huntington Beach Police Lt. Luis Ochoa said.
Mendoza barged into Monarch Vending at 15602 Commerce Lane about 10:20 a.m. and reportedly threatened two former co-workers before rushing out and confronting a third worker on a nearby street, Ochoa said. No shots were fired. Mendoza was arrested in Santa Ana a short time later, Ochoa said.
