Hit-and-Run Driver Kills 11-Year-Old Boy

An 11-year-old boy died Thursday after he was struck by a hit-and-run driver in a mall parking lot, police said.
Family members who were at the scene told police the boy was struck at 2 p.m. in the parking lot of a strip mall at 1002 E. 17th St. by a white compact utility vehicle with dual rear wheels.
The driver, a man 25 to 30 years old, fled south through the parking lot and is still at large, police said.
The boy died at Western Medical Center-Santa Ana, police said. His name has not been released.
