Sunbeam Will Reorganize Its Coleman Unit

Sunbeam Corp. said it will reorganize its 82%-owned Coleman Co. unit into three product groups: hard lines, soft goods, and outdoor cooking and hardware, and it named general managers for two of the divisions. The company also said it plans to close a Coleman sleeping bag factory and fire 111 workers to cut $2.5 million in annual costs. Delray Beach, Fla.-based Sunbeam said it has hired consulting firm Coopers & Lybrand to study making much deeper cuts at Coleman and two other companies it is acquiring, Signatures Brands USA Inc. and First Alert Inc.
