Village Developers to Hold Workshops for Buyers

Developers of a planned community of affordable single-family and townhomes scheduled to be completed in May have scheduled a free home-buying workshop Saturday to teach residents how they can purchase one of the residences.
As part of a public-private partnership, John Laing Homes, which recently merged with Watt Residential Properties, demolished a blighted housing project at Pacific Coast Highway and Vermont Avenue in 1995 to make way for a revitalized neighborhood. The new Harbor Village, built with $25 million in federal funds, includes 116 single-family homes and 108 townhomes that start at $89,900.
A spokesman for John Laing Homes said the developer is targeting first-time home buyers and will conduct a series of workshops for them.
The event is scheduled from noon to 3 p.m. at Harbor Village.
