Importer Fined Over Safety Violations

U.S. safety regulators said toy distributor Ameri-China International Inc. will pay $140,000 in fines for importing toys containing small parts that pose a choking hazard for children.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission charged in court that Los Angeles-based Ameri-China imported more than 755,000 toys such as cars, phones and helicopters that did not comply with federal safety standards for small parts.
