Man Sentenced in Slaying of Northridge Store Owner

A 29-year-old Pasadena man was sentenced Wednesday to 51 years to life for the shooting death of a jewelry store owner during a robbery attempt in Northridge.
San Fernando Superior Court Judge Charles Peven sentenced Gaik Papazyan to 25 years to life for first-degree murder, 25 years to life for discharging a handgun and causing death, and eight months for possessing a silencer.
The sentences will run consecutively.
He was convicted May 16 in the death of Karo Zeytounyan, 44, of Diamond Bar in Zeytounyan’s store in December 2000.
