Wood, Blasberg in Contention at Rolex

Taylor Wood of Laguna Niguel shot his second consecutive round of 68 and his eight-under-par 136 has him two strokes off the lead at the midway point of the AJGA Rolex Tournament of Champions at The Desert Mountain Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.
In the girls’ event, Erica Blasberg of Corona moved into a tie for second place at one-over 145, two shots behind leader Brittany Lincicome of Pinellas Park, Fla.
Wood is one of 11 Southland boys to make the cut, although only Santa Barbara’s Kevin Larsen (143), Riverside’s Josh Wooding (143), La Mirada’s Daniel Im (144) and Anaheim Hills’ Jordan Nasser (144) were within 10 shots of leader Randy Lowry of Spring, Texas.
Blasberg is one of seven Southland girls to make the cut. Jane Park of Beaumont is seven shots off the pace at 150.
