Ljubomir Pantscheff, 89; Bulgarian Performed at Vienna State Opera

Ljubomir Pantscheff, 89, Bulgarian opera singer who performed at Vienna’s State Opera for three decades, died early Saturday in Vienna of natural causes.
Born in 1913 in Sofia, Bulgaria, Pantscheff joined Vienna’s Volksoper in 1938 and debuted with the State Opera ensemble in 1945.
He sang 77 different roles during 3,246 performances at the State Opera. His best-known role was as Antonio in “Le Nozze di Figaro,” which he sang for 292 performances.
