The California Highway Patrol is seeking the public’s help in the investigation of a fatal hit-and-run accident last week on the Ventura Freeway.
CHP officials said the accident occurred Thursday morning when a motorist driving north in Camarillo suddenly changed lanes and struck a motorcyclist, who suffered fatal head injuries.
The unidentified driver, who exited the freeway at Santa Rosa Road, was followed by a witness who described the vehicle as a red Ford Taurus with California license number 2WJF520, authorities said.
The sedan was occupied by three males, all believed to be in their 20s, authorities said.
The driver faces possible felony charges of hit-and-run and vehicular manslaughter.
The motorcyclist was identified as Herman Fred Bolte, 24, of Fullerton, a Navy reservist who worked at the military base at Point Mugu.
Anyone with information about the collision is being asked to call the highway patrol at 477-4100.
