Ducks’ Rucchin Has Surgery on Knee

Mighty Duck center Steve Rucchin underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee and will miss the first part of training camp.
The Ducks open camp Sept. 11 and Rucchin is expected to need two or three weeks of rehabilitation. Team officials said he would be ready for the season opener in Dallas on Oct. 8.
Rucchin, a key player in the Ducks’ run to the Stanley Cup finals last season, had complained of soreness in the knee after recent off-ice workouts.
The Ducks are already without left wing Mike Leclerc, who is expected to miss the first month of the season while recovering from knee surgery, and right wing Dan Bylsma, who will be out until January recovering from knee surgery.
Center Andy McDonald, meanwhile, has resumed light workouts, including skating, and said he hoped to return to the team in training camp. McDonald missed 36 of the final 40 regular-season games and the playoffs last season because of a concussion.
