Mater Dei’s Nicolas Commits to Notre Dame

Brandon Nicolas, a 6-foot-5, 275-pound defensive tackle from Santa Ana Mater Dei, has committed to Notre Dame.
Nicolas, who also plays on the offensive line, helped the Monarchs reach the Southern Section Division I championship game last season. He chose Notre Dame over UCLA and Ohio State, among others.
Gary Abraham, boys’ basketball coach at Westlake Village Oaks Christian, has received disciplinary action by the school after being arrested on Aug. 10 in Ventura for driving under the influence, Principal Jeff Woodcock said.
Parents were informed of the incident and told that Abraham will remain as coach.
Woodcock declined to disclose the disciplinary action against the coach but said Abraham has apologized for the incident.
