From Times Staff Reports
The City Council has approved a 10-year contract with Consolidated Disposal Service for residential and commercial trash pickup.
The approval ends a long and sometimes controversial bidding process in which at least five trash companies had competed for the contract.
Mayor Fernando Pedroza and Councilmen Paul Richards and Louis Byrd approved the contract at a late meeting Tuesday night.
Councilman Ramon Rodriguez voted no, while Councilman Arturo Reyes abstained.
