Feinstein Loses Bid to Block Anti-Emission Bill
- Share via
Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) failed to kill a bill that would block California’s effort to further reduce air pollution from lawn mowers, generators and other small machines.
The measure, which would require a national emissions standard for small engines, was inserted into a spending bill by Sen. Christopher S. Bond (R-Mo.), who argued that the plan to require cleaner engines would cost jobs in Missouri, where many of the engines are built.
Feinstein’s amendment was defeated in the Appropriations Committee. She plans to renew her effort on the Senate floor.
