From Times Staff and Wire Reports
A federal judge dismissed a suit seeking to return a 5,300-pound Ten Commandments monument to the lobby of a state building in Montgomery.
The suit claimed the removal would violate the Constitution’s protection of freedom of religion, but U.S. District Judge Myron Thompson disagreed, saying it showed government neutrality toward religion.
The ruling comes after a legal battle that led to the monument’s removal last week.
