About 300 residents of Camp Sherman were ordered to evacuate again after a pair of fires jumped containment lines and threatened to merge.
“It’s probably close to 80,000 acres,” said Tom Lavagnino, fire spokesman for the Booth and Bear Butte fires.
The evacuation marks the second time in less than a month that Camp Sherman residents have been forced to flee. They were allowed back in Saturday after a 10-day evacuation.
A 10-mile stretch of U.S. 20 from Sisters to Camp Sherman was closed westbound to allow firefighting equipment through.
