From Times Staff Reports
The former controller of the Chateau Marmont Hotel on the Sunset Strip was sentenced to 51 months in federal prison Monday for embezzling nearly $14 million from 1992 to 2002.
Kelly Timothy Ebert, 39, who pleaded guilty in June to two counts of wire fraud, said he had spent most of the money on an outside business that flopped and had bought a $2.3-million home in Thousand Oaks.
U.S. District Judge William Matthew Byrne Jr. gave Ebert the maximum allowed under federal sentencing guidelines and ordered Ebert to make full restitution.
