Indiana’s Governor Suffers Massive Stroke

Indiana Gov. Frank O’Bannon suffered a massive stroke in his Chicago hotel room, and his chances of recovery were uncertain, the neurosurgeon who operated on him said.
The Democrat was found after a staffer called hotel security to say O’Bannon had missed a meeting and did not answer his phone, an official said. He was attending a conference of the Midwest U.S.-Japan Assn.
Surgeons removed blood from both sides of O’Bannon’s brain, said the neurosurgeon, Wesley Yapor, adding that some of the blood probably came from an injury, suggesting that O’Bannon, 73, fell after becoming ill.
