Beatle film to screen in L.A.

Fans of late Beatle George Harrison in Los Angeles, New York and a few other cities will have a chance for a big-screen viewing of the all-star “A Concert for George” film starting Oct. 3 before the documentary is released on DVD in November. Specific theaters have not been announced.
Last fall’s concert at the Royal Albert Hall in London included performances by his former band mates Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr as well as guitarist Eric Clapton, who was musical director of the star-studded show, Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne, Billy Preston and members of the Monty Python comedy troupe.
Billboard reports that all proceeds from the concert, film and DVD will benefit Harrison’s Material World Charitable Foundation, which he established in 1973.
Harrison died of brain cancer Nov. 29, 2001. He was 58.
