A Los Angeles County safety police officer was arrested Friday on 25 counts of felony child molestation involving a teenage girl.
Carlos Fernando Salcedo, 27, was taken into custody at the safety police headquarters at Los Angeles County Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. He was ordered held on $1.1-million bail.
Details were sketchy, but Sgt. Dan Scott of the Sheriff Department’s Family Crimes Bureau said that the girl was a friend of Salcedo and that the alleged molestations occurred over about a year and a half. The incidents were reported to the Sheriff’s Department about a week ago, Scott said.
The safety police patrol the county’s parks and buildings. They are sworn police officers and carry firearms.
