Rebel Attacks Aim to Hamper Hostage Search

Suspected leftist rebels bombed a train carrying coal, blew up a gas pipeline and two electrical towers and burned trucks in attacks meant to hamper the Colombian army’s efforts to find eight tourists abducted this month, authorities said.
The attacks, blamed on the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, or FARC, took place Friday and Saturday in the north, where 2,000 troops are searching for four Israelis, two Britons, a German and a Spaniard. The tourists were sleeping by ruins of the Lost City when they were abducted Sept. 12 by suspected FARC members.
