A man who stole $6,800 from Deer Creek Little League’s bank account pleaded guilty to felony grand theft in San Bernardino County Superior Court.
Fred Capalby, 34, was sentenced to 60 days in county jail and barred from serving in any type of money handling or treasurer role for any youth group while he completes a three-year felony probation sentence, Deputy Dist. Atty. Salvador Silva said. Last week, Capalby repaid the funds he had stolen in June 2002, Silva said.
Capalby had accepted checks from the Rancho Cucamonga league with an agreement to buy a snack bar storage container. When the container arrived with an unpaid bill, league officials reported the missing funds to the Sheriff’s Department.
