Lighting

There are no rigid rules about lighting art. For those who want to duplicate the gallery experience, there are museum-style lighting systems available with a host of bulbs and lenses that can do everything from providing a soft, shadowless glow to outlining a piece in light so that it appears to float. The streamlined silhouettes of the lights can even be art objects in themselves. Motorized roller shades on windows and laminate glasses can act like sunglasses to cut glare. Dimmers can change the ambience from muted to bright. Three collectors share their favorite lighting systems.
