Gun Safety Suggestion

Re “Gun, Stem Cell Bills Signed,” Sept. 25: A spokesman for the “always willing to do the right thing” National Rifle Assn. insists that SB 489, which Gov. Gray Davis just signed, imposing safety controls on firearms, cannot be implemented because the technology needed “has not been developed enough to be in mass production.” I have a suggestion for the NRA: Simply don’t sell any pre-SB 489 guns in California. I know that will make us all one hell of a lot safer.
