BELGRADE, Serbia-Montenegro — Serbia on Saturday demanded that the United Nations administrator of Kosovo annul the election of the province’s new prime minister, a former rebel leader accused by Serbs of war crimes.
Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica said Kosovo’s parliament had jeopardized talks on the province’s future as well as regional stability by choosing Ramush Haradinaj, an ethnic Albanian who was a commander in the Kosovo Liberation Army.
Kostunica said Belgrade would present its demand for Haradinaj’s removal to Kosovo U.N. administrator Soren Jessen-Petersen, the U.N. Security Council and the European Union.
Haradinaj was chosen for the post Friday.
