Police Seek Transient in Man’s Beating Death

A transient is being sought for questioning in the death of a man whose badly beaten body was found under a bridge, officials said.
Gilbert Garcia Jr., 41, who has a conviction record of battery, theft and auto theft, lived in San Bernardino County but has recently frequented Huntington Beach and Costa Mesa, authorities said.
The victim, a man in his 40s, was found by a passerby Monday under a bridge at Hamilton Avenue and Brookhurst Street. He was beaten beyond recognition and has not yet been identified.
