Stone Field, a popular soccer field in the heart of the city’s historic district, will be closed until late January because of damage during recent storms.
The field underwent a $750,000 renovation two years ago. City officials say the field was torn up when adult soccer teams played during last weekend’s rains.
Stone Field was closed for nearly a year while crews put in irrigation systems, drainage, athletic turf, goals, trees, restrooms, a shaded picnic area, bleachers and security lighting.
