Connecticut Is Upset by Massachusetts

Rashaun Freeman made a layup with 4.3 seconds left to lift Massachusetts to a 61-59 upset win over No. 7 Connecticut on Thursday at Amherst, Mass.
Freeman came through time and again for the Minutemen (3-2), who beat the Huskies for the first time in 14 meetings.
The Huskies (4-1) ran into a hostile environment on their first trip of the season. The Minutemen’s frontcourt beat the Huskies at their own game, second-chance points.
Massachusetts outscored Connecticut, 42-24, in the paint.
No. 1 Illinois 74, Georgetown 59 -- Roger Powell scored 19 points, and Illinois (8-0) shot 65% from the field in the second half at Washington.
Jeff Green had 20 points and six rebounds to lead Georgetown (3-2), which had won three in a row after an opening loss to Temple.
No. 2 Kansas 93, Texas Christian 74 -- Wayne Simien had 20 points and Keith Langford 17 for the Jayhawks (5-0) at Lawrence, Kan. Nile Murry had 20 points for TCU (5-3), although he was hampered by foul problems much of the second half.
WOMEN’S TOP 25
Tiffany Porter-Talbert scored 24 points, and Western Kentucky rallied to upset No. 14 Vanderbilt, 85-77, at Bowling Green, Ky.... Katie Gearlds scored 21 points for No. 21 Purdue, which handed 15th-ranked DePaul its first loss of the season, 69-61, at West Lafayette, Ind.
