Miramax’s Future Uncertain, Disney Says

Walt Disney Co. said business at its Miramax Film unit would not continue “at the same level” after Miramax Co-Chairmen Harvey and Bob Weinstein’s contracts expire in September.
Disney is unable to determine whether current Miramax projects may be abandoned or impaired and whether there will be any material charges, Disney said in a Securities and Exchange Commission filing. Disney said it was negotiating with the Weinsteins about the future of their relationship.
Miramax spokesman Matthew Hiltzik said the Weinsteins were having “amicable discussions” with Disney.
