Kaman’s Memorable Pass Provides a Preview

Chris Kaman delighted a sellout crowd Saturday night at Staples Center with one of the season’s most memorable plays.
After stealing the ball from the Lakers’ Vlade Divac, the 7-foot Clipper center drove to the other end, dribbling the ball behind his back at one point before sending a wraparound pass to Kerry Kittles for a layup.
“I didn’t check ‘SportsCenter’ [Saturday] night but his move should have been No. 1, I would have thought,” Coach Mike Dunleavy said. “It’s hard to believe anybody else could have topped that one.”
Dunleavy, though, said he’d seen it before in practice.
“He’s got some ballhandling skills,” the coach said. “He’s got the ability to put the ball on the floor and make some moves, once he figures it all out....
“You know how Tim Duncan pops out and faces you and ices you up? In a couple of years, I think [Kaman] will be able to do that. With his quickness, he’ll be able to take you off the dribble and make moves and make plays.”
