Supervisors approved a contract to pay a lobbyist as much as $60,000 to represent San Luis Obispo County in an effort to improve strained relations with the California Coastal Commission.
Sacramento lobbyist Susan McCabe, who also represents many coastal developers, will represent the county during commission meetings this year. The Board of Supervisors approved the contract Tuesday.
Conservationists quickly criticized the deal, saying it is an attempt to allow more development on the coast and avoid updating the county’s coastal program.
