An 11-year-old boy was killed Wednesday night in a Palmdale house fire that may have started in a clothes dryer, a Los Angeles County Fire Department spokesman said.
The fire broke out about 11:15 p.m. at a two-story house in the 300 block of Alamosa Avenue, Fire Capt. Gary Walsh said. Firefighters arrived to find the fire burning on the first floor and a woman who said her two children were inside, he said.
The boy who died was identified by the county coroner’s office as Lashaul Drye. The second child -- a 12-year-old boy -- and the mother were hospitalized for smoke inhalation and superficial cuts, fire officials said.
The fire was contained in about 10 minutes, Walsh said. Its cause was under investigation.
