“Cookin’ at the Cookery: The Music and Times of Alberta Hunter” will be the Geffen Playhouse’s first show to be staged at the Brentwood Theatre, while the Geffen itself undergoes renovations.
The show is set in 1977 at a Greenwich Village club where blues and jazz legend Alberta Hunter, who died in 1984, is performing.
“Cookery,” staged by its writer, Marion J. Caffey, will be the final show in the Geffen’s 2003-04 season, June 23-July 25. All of the 2004-05 season will be staged at the Brentwood.
Geffen programming will return home in 2005-06.
