Minnesota Spoils Fleury’s Return, 4-2

The Minnesota Wild spoiled Pittsburgh rookie Marc-Andre Fleury’s return to the NHL, scoring four third-period goals in a 4-2 victory Friday night at St. Paul, Minn.

Antti Laaksonen, Filip Kuba, Alexandre Daigle and Andrew Brunette scored in a 5:20 span midway through the period, with three consecutive goals going through Fleury’s legs.

Fleury, 19, the No. 1 overall draft pick last year, made his first start since playing for Canada in the world junior championships.

Carolina 4, Atlanta 3 -- Jeff O’Neill broke out of a season-long slump with his second career hat trick to lead the Hurricanes at Atlanta. The Thrashers squandered a 3-1 lead after the first period, extending their winless streak to nine games (0-7-1-1).

O’Neill had scored only five goals in 44 games. He scored the winning goal at 14:02 of the second period -- 44 seconds after Kevyn Adams tied the score.

Philadelphia 4, Toronto 1 -- At Philadelphia, Keith Primeau scored a goal in his return to the Flyers’ lineup.

Primeau, sidelined since breaking his thumb in the Flyers’ previous win Jan. 2, helped the Philadelphia end a season-worst winless streak at six games (0-4-1-1).

Detroit 3, Phoenix 3 -- The Red Wings’ Steve Yzerman became the seventh NHL player to reach 1,700 points and Henrik Zetterberg scored with 1:44 left in regulation to give the Red Wings the tie at Detroit.
