4.5 Quake Rattles Lake Tahoe Region

A minor earthquake hit Placer County near the Nevada border early Thursday, but there were no immediate reports of damage or injury.
The magnitude-4.5 temblor hit just before 2 a.m. about six miles north of Kings Beach, along the northern shore of Lake Tahoe, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
Suzanne Johnson, a county dispatcher, said the quake caused no damage or injuries, but scared some residents.
