Four fillies who are undefeated over the course are among 10 3-year-olds scheduled to go one mile today in the $250,000 Acorn at Belmont Park.
Magical Illusion beat maidens by 17 1/2 lengths in her Belmont debut on May 9; Society Selection won the Frizette there last fall; Bending Strings won the Nassau County Breeders’ Cup Handicap last month in her initial race over the track; and La Reina beat maidens by five lengths in her second career outing on Sept. 6.
A race before the Acorn, four unbeaten 2-year-olds -- Departing Now, Primal Storm, Dubleo and Winning Expression -- are among the five who are scheduled to run in the $100,000 Flash, a Grade III at five furlongs.
Race of the day: All eyes will be focused on the eighth race at Hollywood Park to see if Thunder Twice can make his 50th time the charm in a $25,000 maiden claimer at 1 1/16 miles. The 7-year-old son of Thunder Gulch doesn’t have a victory in 49 starts. He has three seconds and five thirds. The race is part of a pick six that has a carry-over of $88,981.
One for the road: Lenatareese had a troubled trip in her comeback for trainer David Carroll on May 14, but she can win in her second after a lengthy layoff in the eighth at Churchill Downs.
Exotically speaking: A Hollywood Park pick all using Indebted in the first, Dream Of Summer in the second, Contribute and Sanzibar in the third, Normandy Princess and Champ’s Rocket in the fourth, Spicy Cajun and Beezer in the fifth, Lights Out Toney in the sixth, Super Strut and Huka’s Diamond in the seventh and Finally A Boy and Salt Wells in the eighth.
Winners: Previous day/meet total: 2/69. Money: Previous day/meet total: $11.60/$383. Total money bet: $550.
