Man Allegedly Wielding Shotgun Killed by Police

A 50-year-old man allegedly armed with a shotgun was killed by officers attempting to serve a search warrant at an Echo Park home, police said Saturday.
The officers were conducting a narcotics investigation about 8 a.m. Friday when they encountered the man in the 1400 block of Wallace Street, said Officer Don Cox of the Los Angeles Police Department.

Echo Park shooting -- A brief in Sunday’s California section about the shooting of a man in Echo Park incorrectly identified the location of the shooting as Wallace Street. The street is Wallace Avenue.
Police said the man, Jose Luis Lopez, was shot in the upper body and died at the scene.
