Valenzuela Is Making His Move

When racing is over at Hollywood Park today, Patrick Valenzuela could be atop the jockey standings.
Valenzuela, recently granted a stay of a suspension by the California Horse Racing Board after he failed to appear for a mandatory drug test in January, started his latest comeback only six days ago and has had eight winners in his first four days back, leaving him two behind leader Corey Nakatani.
With many of the top local riders busy in Kentucky, Valenzuela is scheduled to ride in eight of the nine races today, including 3-1 second choice Designed For Luck in the $100,000-added Inglewood Handicap, a Grade III at 1 1/16 miles on the turf.
Two for the road: Randaroo is a specialist at seven furlongs and might be able to upset Azeri in the $250,000 Humana Distaff Handicap today at Churchill Downs. John Velazquez will ride the 4-year-old Gold Case filly, who has won five of her six races since joining the barn of Kiaran McLaughlin.
Meanwhile at Aqueduct, Forest Danger -- who has won his first three starts by a combined 11 1/2 lengths -- will make his first start beyond seven furlongs in the $150,000 Withers.
Exotically speaking: A pick three using Potrisunrise in the first, Water Czar, Gray Jag and Insane in the second and Evolution and Luther in the third.
Winners: Previous day/meet total: 2/20. Money: Previous day/meet total: $6.60/$105. Total money bet: $136.
