HealthSouth Corp., the U.S. hospital chain being probed by the Justice Department over an alleged $2.7-billion fraud, named Jay Grinney as chief executive.
Grinney, 53, has run HCA Inc.’s hospital operations east of the Mississippi River since 1996. On May 10, he will replace Robert P. May, who has served as HealthSouth’s interim CEO since March 2003, the Birmingham, Ala.-based company said.
Shares of HealthSouth, the largest U.S. operator of rehabilitation hospitals, rose 22 cents, or 5.1%, to $4.52 in over-the-counter trading.
