Prosecutors Oppose Moving Peterson Trial

Because juror bias in Scott Peterson’s double-murder trial could be found anywhere in California, moving the trial again would be pointless, prosecutors said Monday.
Defense attorney Mark Geragos wants the case moved to Los Angeles, where he says media saturation has not been as intense. Geragos says an impartial jury cannot be seated in Northern California, where potential panelists are intimately involved in the case.
He is set to argue for a change of venue today. The case was moved from Modesto, Peterson’s hometown, after a judge there found that an impartial jury could not be seated. Peterson could face the death penalty or life without parole if convicted of killing his pregnant wife, Laci, and her unborn son.
