Two Ventura County residents were killed over the weekend in separate vehicle accidents, authorities said Monday.
On Sunday morning, Junyoung Huh, 30, of Ventura was riding with a group of friends on California 33 when he lost control of his motorcycle and was thrown over the handlebars, said California Highway Patrol Officer Steve Reid.
Huh sustained blunt-force head injuries from the 8:20 a.m. crash and was pronounced dead about an hour later, Reid said.
On Friday, Leslie Malagon, 19, of Oxnard lost control of her car during a late-night street race near Buenaventura Golf Course in Ventura.
Malagon was driving southbound on Golf Course Road at speeds of more than 100 mph in a race against Kevin Ruffin, 27, of Ventura, officials said.
Just after midnight, Malagon’s car veered off the road at Olivas Park Drive and struck a parked tractor-trailer truck, authorities said. She was taken to Ventura County Medical Center where she died about 5 p.m.
No one else was injured and no arrests have been made in the incident, said Ventura Police Sgt. Sean Conroy. The district attorney’s office will determine whether charges will be filed.
