Petrina Long was hired Friday as UCLA’s associate athletic director/senior women’s administrator.
Long was senior associate athletic director/senior women’s administrator at UC Irvine since 1993, working closely with Dan Guerrero before he became UCLA’s athletic director in July 2002.
She also served as interim athletic director after Guerrero’s departure to UCLA.
Long replaces Betsy Stephenson, who was recently named director of athletics and recreation at Emory University.
Long will oversee several men’s and women’s sports, including women’s basketball, men’s and women’s volleyball, softball and women’s gymnastics. She will also oversee administrative areas, including academic services starting June 14.
Long also spent nine years at Columbia University, serving in the associate and assistant athletic director positions.
