A Beijing man has paid $215,000 for what, in China, is considered the ultimate in lucky cellular telephone numbers: 133-3333-3333.
The number was sold last week at an auction, two Beijing papers reported. They did not name the buyer. Chinese tradition considers 3 a lucky number and groups of 3s even luckier.
Phone calls to the number Saturday weren’t answered.
