Killer, Torturer of 2 Boys Gets Death Sentence

A convicted sex offender who tortured and murdered two boys he found bicycling along a river in 1993 was sentenced to death Wednesday after hearing one victim’s mother say, “You will pay for what you did.”
Superior Court Judge Kenneth So endorsed a jury’s recommendation to impose the death penalty on Scott Erskine, 41, for the sexual assaults and killings of Jonathan Sellers, 9, and Charlie Keever, 13.
Their bodies were found on a bank of the Otay River after they failed to return home from their ride near the U.S.-Mexico border.
