Neutra-designed house, updated

Houses designed by Modernist architect Richard Neutra aren’t impossible to find. There are three others in the same Bel-Air neighborhood as this one, which is known as the Hammerman House for its first owners.
There has not been another restored Neutra of this size on the market in at least five years, according to area realty agents. The sellers bought the 1954 house as a restoration project. It has changed hands only twice.
Architect John Bertram oversaw the restoration, adding a second floor following Neutra’s original renderings. The recent addition complements the rest of the home, which has crisp lines and walls of glass.
About this house: Neutra was known for reducing framing components to simplify construction and for his careful siting of structures. This home, on a knoll, has city-to-ocean views. It was remodeled and updated inside and out.
Asking price: $6.39 million.
Size: There are four bedrooms and 4 1/2 bathrooms in 4,400 square feet. The lot size is 23,310 square feet.
Features: There is a long gated driveway leading to the home, which has bright family, living and dining rooms, a modern kitchen and a media room. The house has a swimming pool, a patio and landscaped gardens.
Where: Bel-Air
Listing agent: Blair Chang, (310) 281-4510, and Jan Eric Horn, (310) 710-3636, Coldwell Banker, Beverly Hills
