Concern Voiced About Guantanamo Trials

Australia will urge the United States to tighten legal procedures governing the trials of two Australian terror suspects detained at a U.S. military base in Cuba, the government said.
Atty. Gen. Philip Ruddock said Australian officials at David Hicks’ first hearing at Guantanamo Bay had identified some areas of concern but did not specify what they were.
Lawyers for Hicks, who has been held at the naval base since 2001 on suspicion of fighting with Afghanistan’s ousted Taliban government, said they have objected to his detention.
He could get life in prison if convicted of conspiracy to commit war crimes, aiding the enemy and attempted murder.
