19 Killed, 17 Injured in Copper Mine Fire

A fire raged through a copper mine in northern Turkey, killing 19 workers and injuring 17.
The miners were trapped nearly 500 feet beneath the surface when the blaze broke out in the town of Kure, about 135 miles north of the capital, Ankara.
Ilker Keremoglu, chief executive of mine owner STFA, said the fire started during welding operations inside.
