Huntington Council Seat Still Vacant

The Huntington Beach City Council took no action at its meeting Tuesday to fill the vacancy left by Pam Julien Houchen, who resigned her seat under a cloud three months before it expired.
The council has 60 days from the resignation to make an appointment, after which it must hold a special election, said City Atty. Jennifer McGrath.
The earliest an election could be held is March 8.
Houchen resigned on Sept. 2, citing personal reasons, but amid allegations that she may have illegally converted apartments into condominiums.
Acting as her own real estate agent, Houchen bought a four-unit apartment building in 2001 and 10 months later sold the units separately as condos, making a profit of $562,000, less remodeling costs, records show.
