Choosing a Hard Life

Re “The Hard Life -- Santa Ana Style,” Sept. 5: You fail to emphasize that most of the undocumented workers in Santa Ana (and elsewhere) send large remittances back to their home countries. One worker makes $561 per week, his rent is $500 per month between two people, yet he sends $600 back to Mexico each month instead of putting it back into the U.S. economy. I just cannot sympathize with the hard life you portray. Some of it is by choice.
