A 40-member team of doctors and nurses at UC San Diego Medical Center delivered sextuplets believed to be the first set in San Diego County and the 12th surviving set in the nation, the university said.
Two girls and four boys were born by caesarean section, weighing from 1 pound, 14 ounces to 2 pounds, 4 1/2 ounces, UC San Diego spokeswoman Leslie Franz said Thursday.
All six were in stable condition. The mother was in good condition.
The parents are San Diego County residents with no other children, Franz said.
